Jenny Scheinman has regained the rights to her albums Jenny Scheinman and Crossing The Field, now reissued with Royal Potato Family and available on Bandcamp for the first time, as well as across all streaming platforms.
Originally released together in 2008 as a dual self-portrait, the albums come from a pivotal moment in her life, just before motherhood, at the start of her vocal explorations, and at the height of an expansive instrumental vision. Jenny Scheinman is intimate and immediate, recorded to 8-track tape in Tony Scherr’s living room, capturing their long-standing musical chemistry through a spontaneous, intuitive process, with additional contributions from the late Tim Luntzel, Kenny Wollesen, and Steve Jordan. Crossing The Field moves in a different direction, lush, orchestral, and cinematic, featuring a seven-piece ensemble including Ron Miles, Doug Wieselman, Jason Moran, and Bill Frisell, alongside a full string orchestra.
